Call of Duty (commonly shortened to CoD) is a first-person video game franchise. The series began on the PC, and later expanded to consoles and handhelds. Several spin-off games have also been released. The earlier games in the series are set primarily inWorld War II, including Call of DutyCall of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 3. Beginning with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which is set in modern times, the series has shifted focus away from World War II. Modern Warfare (released November 2007) was followed by Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Black Ops (released November 2010) takes place in the Cold War, whileModern Warfare 3 (released November 2011) takes place in a near-future setting. Black Ops II (released November 2012) takes place in the year 2025. Call of Duty: Ghosts was released in November 2013. In May 2014, Advanced Warfare was announced.
The Call of Duty games are published and owned by Activision. While the studio Infinity Ward primarily still develops them, Treyarchhas also developed several of the titles with the release of the studios' games interlaced with each other. Some games have been developed by Gray Matter InteractiveNokiaExakt EntertainmentSpark UnlimitedAmaze Entertainmentn-SpaceAspyrRebellion DevelopmentsIdeaworks Game StudioSledgehammer Games, and nStigate Games. The games use a variety of engines, including the id Tech 3, the Treyarch NGL, and the IW 5.0.
As of November 11, 2011, the Call of Duty series has sold over 100 million copies.[1] As of March 31, 2012 there are 40 million monthly active players across all of the Call of Duty titles, with 10 million users of the online service Call of Duty: Elite and 2 million paying annual members. Over 1.6 billion hours of online gameplay have been logged on Modern Warfare 3 since its 2011 release.[2]Sales of all Call of Duty games topped US$10 billion, according to Activision.[3] As of March 2015, the series has sold 175 million copies.[4]
Other products in the franchise include a line of action figures designed by Plan-B Toys, a card game created by Upper Deck, Mega bloks sets by Mega Brands, and a comic book mini-series published by WildStorm.

Call of Duty is a computer/video game based on the Quake III Arena engine (id Tech 3), and was released on October 29, 2003. The game was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. The game simulates the infantry and combined armswarfare of World War II.[5] Call of Duty was accompanied in September 2004 by an expansion pack, Call of Duty: United Offensive, which was also produced by Activision, but developed by Gray Matter Interactive with contributions from Pi Studios. The game follows the American paratroopers, British paratroopers and the Red army. The Mac OS X version of the game was ported byAspyr Media. In late 2004, the N-Gage version was developed by Nokia and published by Activision. Other versions were released for PC, including Collector's Edition (with soundtrack and strategy guide), Game of the Year Edition (includes game updates), and the Deluxe Edition (which contains the United Offensive expansion and soundtrack; in Europe the soundtrack was not included). On September 22, 2006, Call of Duty: War Chest was released for PC, collecting Call of DutyUnited Offensive, and Call of Duty 2.[6] Since November 12, 2007, Call of Duty and its sequels have been available for purchase via Valve's content delivery platform, Steam.[7]

  2. Open "Call of duty" folder and double click on "Unpack" icon and wait for installation.
  3. After installation complete double click on "COD" icon to play the Game.
